"Have radiology lost my ultrasound request sheet?"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

Three weeks ago, after an appointment at rheumatology, I was asked by the nurse to physically take a green slip of paper requesting an ultrasound scan, because that way they could be certain they received it. So I walked to the department, handed it to the receptionist who assured me that I would be sent an appointment date. Three weeks later, I have heard nothing. Has it been lost? Am I on some waiting list for a response? As the ultrasound result will be of importance when I see an oral surgeon at end of the month, I would have liked to have know the result. No doubt I will now see this surgeon and be asked to take another ultrasound request to radiology and wait more weeks for a result. in the meantime, no treatment. No worries. I will be seeing my doctor and asking for a referral to another hospital where there may be more joined up service and actually commence some treatment to my condition.

Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns.

I am very sorry this has been your experience and I agree it's wholly unacceptable that this has been the case.

Please contact the Complaints Team at the Cumberland Infirmary I will be very happy to look into this and ensure appointment goes ahead.

Thank you

Helen
