"c section"

About: Dorset County Hospital

I had a planned c section in June and being my 5th section I knew what to expect and the pain afterwards. However I wasn't expecting to feel the whole operation because the staff didn't numb me properly. I had excruciating pain throughout the surgery. The only pain relief offered was gas until after my baby was born which did not touch the pain. I had a terrible experience and I would hate for anyone else to go through the same thing. If it was my first child it would have put me off completely wanting more children. I had bruises all up my arms where they had 9 failed attempts at canulation before getting one in the right place. I would not recommend having a c section in Dorchester after this experience. However the midwives on the ward were very good and understanding of my ordeal.

I am so very sorry to read your recent experience; I would not expect anyone to experience such pain whilst undergoing a C Section. I will share you post with our Head of Midwifery, who I know will also be very concerned to read your experience. I am pleased that the midwives on the ward were supportive to you afterward. I hope you are recovering well with your new born child and I do urge you to contact us so we can try to understand what happened on 0800 7838058 or pals@dchft.nhs.uk. Once again I would like to extend my sincere apologies to you. Best wishes, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital
