After being diagnosed by my GP in April with an Inguinal Hernia I chose the Circle Hospital, Reading for treatment (as an NHS patient). I was seen within two weeks by the consultant who confirmed the diagnosis and thougherly explained the treatment required. At the end of May a date of 20th July was set for the operation. I was kept fully informed as to what to expect prior to and on the day of the operation. At the pre - operative assessment on the 25th June after all tests were made, the pre and post op regime was explained. On the day of the operation all reception and nursing staff were all very welcoming and put me at ease. The facilities were excellent and the 'pod' I was shown to was very comfortable and afforded me privacy. My wife was able to stay with me in the pod prior to the operation. The surgeon and anaesthetist introduced themselves and again explained the procedure, the nursing staff made regular observations to check all was well. On the way to the theatre all was calm and efficient. I was checked regularly in the recovery room and back in the 'pod'. There was no rush to discharge me and after something to eat and drink the nurses made sure all was well before I was allowed to leave after explaining how to care for the wound. Several days after returning home I was phoned by the hospital to check that all was well and that I had no problems. The treatment I had at the Circle was excellent and have no hesitation in recommending them for this procedure.
