My sister is a patient in St Georges and i can't believe what i see every day i visit. Today was the last straw. My sister has not had her clothes changed in a week or washed, i was told if she did'nt want to do these things that was ok by them. She was outside having a cigarette when i arrived, today, just in her socks and dressing gown over week + old clothes and it was raining hard! I asked a carer if she could do something to which she replied i can't ar the moment, the same reply as numerous requests before. I took my sister to her room although i am not allowed there and changed her myself. She is really mentally unwell and has not got the capacity to make simple decisions, where is the hospital's duty of care toward my sister. I have made my mind up to go in with an assertive manner to get this all sorted out and demand information on care, medication, dignity to name but a few questions. I have seen nothing like nurses and carers all sitting laughing and joking while parients like my sister are left to fend for themselves whatever their mental capacity. An extremely worried sister.
