Atrocious standard of care at the A&E department of the North Middlesex Hospital. The failings are too extensive to cover in a short email but comprise: * total lack of communication between staff (I was asked 'what's wrong with you?' by five different people * my assigned doctor failing to read my x-ray correctly, as they had no idea what they were looking for * not being offered even a glass of water during a 5 hour wait * not being offered the most basic treatment for a seriously inflamed leg - when I asked for a cold pack, I was told that they didn't have one staff attempting to discharge me despite the fact that I couldn't walk, and would not have been able * to get into my home without a serious risk of injury. I explained this to the nurse, who refused to provide transportation. I eventually got the 'impossible' transport home (and the skilled care from the ambulance staff/paramedics) only by stating that I would not leave the hospital unless they did this. * discharging me with no treatment plan or follow-up. I was provided with a few painkillers and a generic information sheet which was not relevant to my condition Of all the issues, the most shocking was the standard of nursing care. The nurse who dealt with me was grudging, rude and dismissive. She could also only barely speak English.
"Mind-blowing bad hospital"
