I've been diagnosed with sciatica, that flares up occasionally. However, the hospital refuses to run tests on what causes it. In fact, one doctor at the hospital told me that it wasn't serious enough to be sciatica, despite that it's my sciatic nerves that flare up. The only reasons why he and others suggest it isn't sciatica is because I am too young (23 years old) and that I don't have accidents while it's flared up. I'll have you know that I caused the sciatica through a gym injury when I was 14. So yes, it can happen to anyone. All they do is try and fob you off with painkillers (which don't work on sciatica). Accident and Emergency means accident (includes sprains and breaks and back flares), not drunk people or just those who are dying. Sort yourself out!
