"Everyone here has a disability, we’re all in the same boat."

About: Dirrans Centre

(as a service user),

I come to Dirrans, it’s the only chance I have to get out the house. If I could afford it I’d come more than once a week but I need to pay £26 by taxi to come here. Transport is a real issue for people living in Garnock valley. Dial a bus didn’t work – I would need to stay on the bus for over 3 hours to get to Dirrans and there aren’t volunteer drivers in the area.

It’s all good staff in here, they really help you.

I get to socialise. Before I came here I didn’t mix with folk. Through time I’ve got to know everyone here. Everyone here has a disability, we’re all in the same boat.

Dear Marky,

Thank you very much for sharing your story.

I know transport from the Garnock Valley is difficult and we have looked at different options for you without success. I can assure you that we will continue to try and source a volunteer driver and are currently looking at taxi/car share opportunities.

I am glad that you find attending the centre helpful.

Kind Regards
