"Treatment for shingles in the eye"

About: Worthing Hospital

At 8.30 am this morning I was advised to call 111 and get a locom Doctor as my wife who has shingles and has now spread into her eye lids and pos eye a locom doctor called back within the hour as agreed and said to go to worthing eye hospital as a emergency for 12 oclock we arrived and reported in at the desk at 11.45.am on the first desk the receptionist said go to the next desk this receptionist said we should go and wait out side a doctors room which we did we were then asked why we were waiting at this point by another receptionist or nurse ? they said go and sit in waiting room you will be called as the doctor has a patient with them which we did after 45minutes I went up to the desk again and asked why we were waiting so long as we had come in as a feferal by the doctor they had clearly for got all about us no notes were taten when we came in etc so they went down to the doctor and seem to tell them off as we were still waiting and they said they had told the doctor we had arrived the doctor the came out and said they had been waitng for us and we said well we were in reception waiting for them we have no fault with the doctor when we did get to them they checked my wifes eye etc and said I will give you a perscription which will help the pain they kindly phoned the hospital phamacy and they said they were just closing the doctor pleaded with them to wait just five minutes so we could go to ground floor to collect the perscription but they said no the doctor said after it just depends who picks the phone up in a situation like this so we came away with a perscription to try and get at another chemist in Chichester I would like to add when my wife and I went into the doctors room the door was left open and other patients stood out side of the room were watching and listing to the conversation between my wife and the doctor I got up and closed the door the doctor said they were sorry about this but was told that the door was always left open and that was how the staff worked they said they used to close the door but was told that was not how they did it there while my wife was in the room a nurse came in three or four times looking for some thing I thought most rude they should have waited untill the doctor had finished the doctor was trying to deal with the nurse and my wife all at one time any way we went off to Chichester to get the perscription only to be told it was no longer available the last chemist in east street said they will try and order the other perscrition which was the second choice but we still will not know if we will get it untill monday if that one is n stock we have spent six hours to day at what started as a emergency with no pain treatment at all my wife will have no choice but to put up with it untill Monday at the best if the item is in stock after paying into the system for over fifty four years I think it is disgusting The phamacy in the hospital should be open for emergencys 24 7 and the reception need a good shake up or replacing. I add the doctor was not at fault.
