"I had my baby in the birth centre. ..."

About: Birmingham Women's Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked I had my baby in the birth centre. It was a very good experience and I was particularly impressed with how relaxed and welcoming it was. My labour was incredibly fast - which was somewhat scary. I found I had a nice balance between getting on with it my own way and having the care and support of midwives. After my baby was born, I was extremely impressed with how 'private' it felt for my husband, myself and our new baby. The midwives were extremely helpful in establishing breast feeding and were always available but we were given lots of time and space on our own. It was the middle of the night and my husband was welcomed to remain with us throughout, not 'booted out' after the birth. He felt completely at home also!
