"Visit to A & E"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

I visited A & E after checking symptoms with my GP and being advised to do so. It was a Thursday and the dept was not particularly busy. I was checked in efficiently and was called into triage within about 15 mins. The triage nurse asked about my symptoms and immediately sent me to the DVT clinic, by the time I arrived at their reception they were expecting me and I only waited for about 15 mins before being sent see the DVT nurse who again checked my symptoms, examined my leg, checked my medical record with me and took blood for tests. I was fortunate that I was then able to have a scan almost immediately as there had been a cancellation. My leg was thoroughly scanned by a member of staff who also asked a colleague to check the results. I returned to the DVT nurse who who had the blood test results and asked if I would like a copy of them and the scan results. This was very helpful as I am being treated for a blood disorder at a London hospital. I found all the staff excellent, the medical staff in particular treated me with kindness, consideration and skill. Thank you.
