My mother-in-law (Vera) came along to the eye clinic today and we were met with absolute professionalism coupled with a calm, sympathetic approach. Vera has dementia and is often thrown by unusual situations but at no time was she unsettled today. The nurse on arrival was just brilliant from start to finish (we were called in a few minutes early for our appointment). They were so patient with Vera as they tested her sight etc and showed her total respect, only talking to me when they needed to. Other staff in the department were also incredibly pleasant and kind as I tried to manoeuvre the wheelchair around, parking it in a rather unsuitable position when we were called in to see the Consultant. The nurse who needed to move it was lovely and at no point made me feel like they were unhappy with me for blocking the doorway! I just wanted to pass on my thanks and total respect for the staff of the department. Too often people are quick to criticise but slow to praise so I thought I would take the time to let them all know that their hard work is appreciated. And to let them know that they are doing a great job. Thank you all.
