I gave birth to my baby in November 2014. The staff on shift failed to give me any pain relief despite me asking for it. After 48 hours of having painful contractions i had still not been given any form of pain relief, not even paracetamol! The midwife who was supposed to be 'looking after me' abused their position of trust by pressing down on my stomach when i was having contractions as i was protesting about the pain. The shift co ordinator and staff on night shift told me they couldnt give me any paracetamol and a doctor would need to do so. No doctor came to see me despite me asking to see one several times by walking to the staff desk in the corridor I was in so much pain that i was lying on the floor in the corridor and nobody came to help me. My partner was sent home despite me having contractions and baby could have come at any point. I would never recommend this hospital and i am still awaiting a response from the head of complaints who was supposed to liaise wih me as advised in March 2015. PALS failed to offer appropriate guidance and support and told me i would need to complain independantly. Having gone through such a traumatic labour and delivery the hospital to date have failed to offer me any advice and guidance in managing my complaint and continue to provide an inadequate service. The hospital was aware that i required an anti d injection following the birh of my son but failed to administer this. When making decisions about my son from a medical perspective baby doctors failed to consult me and seek an informed decision from me as a mother. The whole situation left me in a very vulnerable situation and there was no support. Infact the aneathetist failed to provide me with pain relief when i was in an established labor. They failed to give me an epidural appropriately but instead was gossping with other staff about their previous work at another hospital. Subsequently the epidural had to be resisted numeorus times. My Gp was disgusted at how i was treated and i understand questions were put forward to the surgeon who carried out my c section about why i was left in so much pain and the lack of appropriate decision making. I would never ever recommend anyone goes to this hospital it is a complete and utter failure and has left me feelig like i never want to have children ever again.
