"My daughter had an operation here ..."

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My daughter had an operation here in Sep 06. The whole experience from going to see the specialist was excellent and couldn't have been handled better, both were great at explaining things to us and putting us at our ease. She had asked to have a line rather than a general anaesthetic which they agreed to. We requested that if possible she was discharged that day as she had a baby at home, which they reakky went out of their way to do. Even the porters taking her down for the operation and their light hearted banter which set us both at ease was very welcome. They have not discharged her yet, she still has regular check ups to ensure that if anything re-occurs it is found and treated without delay (even though the tumour wasn't malignant). Her treatment overall was excellent, she had her MRI scan in the morning and the results in clinic the same afternoon. It was entirely different to my treatment for a knee operation a month later at a different hospital. If I had to go again I would definately choose this hospital as the whole expericence was made as positive and stressless as possible - if we were looking for complaints it would be very difficult to find any.

What could be improved

Nothing really - perhaps waiting times at follow-up clinics but that would be being really critical.

Anything else?

No
