I was recently a patient at Scunthorpe Hospital. The care I received from Consultants/Doctors and Nurses was second to none and I am extremely grateful.
But hygiene there has gone out of the window. The bathroom was in a terrible state - I had to clean the toilet every time I went in ( thank goodness for Parazone wipes, which I had been advised to take into hospital with me) also the bin hadn't been emptied for days and was overflowing. Where were the cleaners?
The cleansing hand gel at the bottom of my bed was empty ( I know because I had tried to use it) yet at least two people ( one a consultant and the other a nurse ) had pretended to cleanse their hands before they attended to me.
I know I should have said something at the time but being in a vulnerable state and being looked after by the people I was complaining about, I didn't.
While in hospital - two days after my operation, my husband brought me in a letter which had arrived at my home that morning from Scunthorpe Hospital. It stated that I should have a blood test one week before my admittance! What does that say about the admin staff?
One good thing - the food was quite good.
