I had to attend the A and E department on Saturday 18th July as she had fallen and we were concerned she had broken her nose. It took over 10 minutes to be seen by the receptionist to register her, it was very clear my daughter was in some distress and there seemed to be no sense of urgency. We then went through to Children's A and E and were seen very quickly by the Triage nurse to asses my daughters injury which I was very impressed with. Sadly we were then told there was a 4 to 5 hour wait to see a doctor!!! There was a number of very young children waiting some of which to be fair were wasting their own time as one just had a headache and another a tiny cut, neither of which I would bother the emergency services for! We were eventually seen at 12.15am, 4 hours 5 minutes after we arrived! Only for the doctor to poke her nose up and down half a dozen times and tell us it wasn't broken and even if it was unless it was completely mashed up they don't do anything anyway! If I had been told this I would have taken my daughter home after seeing the triage nurse and not wasted our time and have my daughter upset as she was tired! What upsets me even more is the fact it took so long to be seen in the first place! They were all very young children waiting and lots of nurses walking around but no doctors or nurse practitioners that could deal with minor injuries and ease the waiting time. Clearly something needs to be done!!,
