"Extremely saddened that AnE is closed"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I have always been asked to be seen at this hospital because the staff are amazing and they treat you very fairly and listen to you without judgement . I have recently been having very bad stomach pains and I phoned 111 who asked me to get an appointment to this hospital in fracture clinic but the doctor sent me up to the Rvi for more tests , when I got there , I was told it would be 4-6 hours waiting time and id be better of going home and going to doctors in the morning. . I have felt let down by the royal Victoria infirmary and will never be going there again . I had to get a taxi there and back for a wasted journey . I'm still having no luck at the miniute but I know if AnE were still open I would of had the care and support I needed from you's . Thankyou Lyndsey

Dear Lyndsey I’m pleased to hear that you have had good experiences at North Tyneside General Hospital and can assure you that you are still able to access 24/7 walk-in services here for less serious conditions. This includes minor head, ear or eye problems, broken nose or nose bleed, sprains, strains, cuts and bites, minor fractures or broken bones, abscesses and wound infections as well as children’s minor injuries and ailments. In addition you can attend the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington for serious emergencies such as suspected stroke, persistent and severe chest pain, loss of consciousness, sudden shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain and severe blood loss. From your comments we are unable to determine whether your treatment is complete, however if you are needing further help we would like to ensure you receive this. We feel you could benefit from speaking with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) which works across all the local hospitals to provide independent advice and I’m sure they will be able to help you. You can contact them on northoftynepals@nhct.nhs.uk / 0800 032 0202. We have made them aware of your post and that you may be contacting them. Kind regards Annie Laverty, director of patient experience
