"An afternoon filled with fun"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This is some feedback that was recieved from the patients within The National High Secure Healthservice for Women at Rampton Hospital (Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) regarding a recent Recovery focused Summer event which was supported by some of the Rosewood volunteers and attended by our Chief Executive Ruth Hawkins. One of the main highlights of the day was the grand opening of a Recovery Path which the patients had been working on for over a year.

"When I was first approached about making the slabs I thought "great" as it not only gave us time off the ward but an ability to get involved in learning how to create a slab from scratch. When it came to the painting/designing of the slab, I felt a lot of thought went into it, once the slabs were laid myself and the other patients felt a sense of great achievement and pride".

"I myself was involved in the paying of the slabs and it made me realise just how hard grafting it was. Myself and the TIW's had a good laugh and lots of fun. I think the path should have been named "perspiring pathway" as a lot of sweat was leaxed over the slabs, ha ha! "

"I enjoyed the games and socilaising with lots of different people from other wards, the animation film was very emotional"

"an afternoon filled with fun, really enjoyable and eye opening"

"I enjoyed the tombola, I won twice, I enjoyed eating ice-cream, it was a nice break. I normally get nervous around so many people but managed to stay and have a good time. The pathway looks really pretty and I enjoyed hearing the name read out".

"I liked seeing the surprise on Ruth Hawkins face as she was presented with the produce that I was involved in and helped nurture and grown in the Sapphire gardens".

"I was shocked and over-whelmed that part of the pathway name was the one I entered into the competition, it filled me with a sense of pride and slight embaressment with shock".

Thanks for this, so glad all involved had a good time as well as a positive recovery focused experience. As I was also part of the afternoon I was able to enjoy the time and talk with people about how proud everyone is about the recovery path also how they think it links with the sensory garden they had previously created.A great sense of ownership and involvement in creating a positive environment for all. Thanks again to everyone and to Ruth for coming and opening the pathway.

Thank you very much to you all for taking the time to share your feedback and experience of the care you recieve within our National Women's Service Directorate here at Rampton Hospital.

As the Manager for Day-Care Services I am aware of how hard the staff and patients work together to share ideas and to host meaningful recovery focused events. It was my pleasure to support you with your ideas for the summer sports event and I was very proud to see patients working on the individual stalls and competitions.

Glad you enjoyed the event - cant wait for the next one!
