I met my consultant in April 2014 with small amount of knee pain , had X-ray but not MRI scan told didn't need it told neede lateral release in both knees ,not sure but put trust in these proffesionals . Told simple opp 12 weeks easy recovery . Operation 17 October 2014 All seemed to go well then increasing pain in both knees ,after 3 more visits to see surgeon And still would not do MRI scan in knees ( told " i know what's going on in your knees and the pain is in your head " it's called regional pain syndrome . At this point I was on crutches In great pain told to go home and get some anti inflammatoies . I then insisted at this point to MRI scan and was not leaving until this was done , with great obstruction from the surgeon I eventually got the person in charge of MRI to scan 1 knee for me (thanks to that person ) outcome 1 hour later back in surgeons office quote ( oh! You have aggressive onset Arthritis in both knees and need patella femoral replacement and I don't want to do the operation because you may not get over it and would suffer from RPS and by the way I have not caused this in your knees ) so from walking into this surgeon at which point I could walk 10 miles , bike 30 miles and play a round of golf I am virtually a cripple . I abviously moved on from this surgeon as they were fine with me until things hadn't gone to plan and there was complications to which their arrogant attitude and scaremongery in my opinion was totally out of order . I will point out that all other aspects of this hospital were fine. I am now slowly recovering from total knee replacement which I had done at the park hospital , it's tuff but I feel that I am in good hands and with people that care about the outcome of their patients.
