"Concern about my son's care in ambulance"

About: Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

Ambulance was called to attend to my 15 year old son in status epilepticus.

They arrived unsure of dose of diazepam they could give, put him in the chair when he was clearly unable to stand/ very heavy to lift. They made me stand outside the ambulance. presumably so I didn't see them manhandle my son onto the bed.

We then spent 20 mins parked while they inserted a cannula. By this time my son had been in status nearly 60 mins and was very distressed and combative. The ambulance man admitted to being frightened by my son's level of distress, made no notes on history, seemed to be quite panicked.

The cannula failed to work so no diazepam was given. I ended up standing over my son on the way to hospital while he panicked and rummaged through his drugs bag. Total shambles, thank god hes ok.
