"level of care"

About: University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7)

(as the patient),

I was recently in ward 7 (a surgical ward) but as a medical patient due to a shortage of beds. The care I received in the 17 days I spent there was second to none. This despite the extreme & ridiculous shortage of staff both on day shift & night shift. the nurses were all wonderful, I could not say a bad word about them or indeed any nursing assistants. Always there to help, always a kind word & a listening ear despite the pressure they were obviously under.

My many thanks to them.....truly are angels.......David Cameron, maybe you need to spend a significant amount of time feeling really ill in a ward alike to ward 7 of the Monklands & witness first hand how hard these nurses work, in such difficult circumstances. I was treated no differently although I wasn't surgical & also my constant health issues aside for why I was there were well looked after & maintained also. God Bless them all & I send a great deal of thanks to all the staff who were there for me. X

Dear KayMick

Thank you very much for taking the time to write, relating to the care in Ward 7.

The Senior Charge Nurse and her staff work very hard to deliver the best care to patient's in our wards. Also if patient's are in our surgical areas outwith the their speciality, we ensure that all of the relevant specialist care is delivered at all times.

The nursing staff will be delighted with this feedback.

Many thanks once more

Karen Black

Senior Nurse
