"Nobody listened or seemed to care"

After having taken my daughter to A&E 3 times, once for the initial assessment and twice because she was in so much she was sobbing and shaking, we finally got an appointment with a consultant. She injured her knee nearly 3 weeks ago and has been in constant pain that has been gradually getting worse. The consultant didn't seem interested in hearing about this or of anything else that had happened. They asked how she did it, had a bit of a poke around and said she needed an mri scan which would come through in about 3 weeks. The doctor wasn't interested in hearing about any swelling, pins and needles or any other symptoms.When I asked why she was in so much pain and what we should do (don't want to keep going to a&e although they have been brilliant) the doctor brushed it off and said the scan should tell us more. The doctor didn't seem overly bothered that she had already been on pain relief for 2 weeks, a mix of ibuprofen, paracetemol and diazapan. The doctor said to carry on. She is 15 and stuck in the house unable to go to school and has already missed a school trip to morocco that she raised the money for herself. Still either not listening or not caring, I can't decide which is worse. We have decided to have a scan done privately to move things along but I wonder what would happen to someone who couldn't afford this option. Is she going to have to miss out on the family holiday this year all because nobody seems to care or can't be bothered to listen. I have always been very impressed with the nhs before. I have a chronic condition and have always been impressed with my care. This to me, however, is not acceptable treatment for a child.
