"a wonderful experience"

About: Dorset County Hospital

I can't rate the standard of care that I received from all the staff at Dorset county maternity ward highly enough. I have birth to my beautiful little boy a month ago, there were a few complications and we ended up having an emergency ceasarian. I had to stay in hospital for 5 nights. This was completely the opposite type of labour that I had hoped for and under lesser circumstances I think I'd have been really upset about having such an intrusive birth. However, thanks to the truly amazing staff in the maternity ward, I have nothing but good memories about the birth of my son. All the midwives, the students, the care assistants, the anesthesiologists and the other doctors that dealt with us during our stay were, without exception, incredibly kind, professional and very genuine, lovely people. They seemed to go out of their way to make both me and my partner feel safe, calm and happy. We were given all the important information during the labour and the days following, in a very clear way. We had some trouble establishing breast feeding and were go green so much help regarding this that we are now breast feeding like pros! Only down side was that I was a bit sad to leave!

Thank you for such lovely feedback I will make sure this is shared with the team in our Maternity Unit. It can be very disappointing when the labour you planned for doesn’t quite happen as you’d expected it to. I was really pleased to read that our brilliant team provided you and your partner with all the kindness and support you needed. I am very grateful to you for taking the time to write your review and I hope you and your son are continuing to do well at home. Kind regards, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital.
