"Last Sunday 26th April I was admitted ..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Last Sunday 26th April I was admitted to A & E after stumbling when walking along Wenlock Edge and suffering a total dislocation of my elbow. (I and my friends were visitors from Lincoln). The ambulance crew who attended the scene recognised the severity of the injury, and the treatment (pain relief) I had from them was proffessionally and sympathetically applied, they did not move me until they were satisfied that I was stabilised.

On arrival at the hospital the doctor in attendence was brilliant even though under obvious pressure judging from the numbers in the waiting area. He ensured that I had x rays quickly taken, he explained how he could treat the injury quickly to prevent further damage and pain occuring, and he gave me options on treatment, which he carried out with the minimum of pain. I cannot fully tell you the gratitude I have for the whole team at the hospital last Sunday morning, every one in attendance was proffessional and very caring. The overall impression of the 4 in our group was of the high standards that were apparent in the cleanliness of the hospital, the teamwork that was apparent throughout, and we wished/hoped that all hospitals could be run at the same level that yours is.

I hope that these comments will be passed on to the team personally, as currently I am unable to write a letter to them as I am right handed and have at least another 6 weeks before I will get mobilisation in my hand to enable me to write legibly, therefore a typed letter seems appropriate.

Once again many thanks to Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust and a personal thank you to those I came in contact with.

Mrs Annice Hoff

Thank you for taking the time to comment on the services provided by the Trust. We aim to provide high quality services for all of our patients, so we are pleased that we managed to live up to your expectations. Your kind words have been passed on to colleagues in the Accident and Emergency Department at the Princess Royal Hospital.

If any members of our staff (or the whole team!) were particularly deserving of thanks or recognition then you can nominate them for the Chairman's Award (see www.sath.nhs.uk/about/awards.asp for more details - you can also submit a nomination by email to communications@sath.nhs.uk). The Chairman's Award is presented at every Trust Board meeting. It recognises and thanks staff and volunteers who go that extra mile for their patients and for their colleagues.

Thanks again for your kind comments, and please accept our very best wishes for a continued recovery.
