I have just come out of Millbrook Hospital in Mansfield after a stay for a number of days in which I myself &, I witnessed patients being spoken to nastily. Staff being spiteful to patients, bullying & blackmailing them. A patient had been asking staff to unlock the toilet door for half an hour & staff was sat in a chair in the lounge & seemed to be ignoring, this upset & aggitated the patient so to help himself to calm down he put his head phones on & started dancing, then another member of staff screeched at him to stop it or she won't let him go out for a cigarette.
Another patient was told to take his medication & drink from a cup that was already filled with water. He asked for fresh water, staff told him he had to have it, again he said please can I have fresh water, the staff said they needed to take it as there's nothing wrong with it, but he refused so they said if you don't take these meds he'd need to have the injection, he shouted I know. He was very upset but took the meds, yet she was stood by the sink & could easily have poured fresh water in the cup to put his mind at rest.
I myself suffer from a number of health conditions and I was very ill mentally too, they did not give me my medication for 8 hrs in the 1st incident, then 10 & half hrs with the second, after that I recieved no meds for my pain, I was in agony & they wouldn't even let me have paracetamol.
I couldn't go to the dining room due to my mental state which the staff was told about when I arrived & they was supposed to bring food up for me, but they didn't. I was there for three nights. & I was only bought breakfast (toast) & tea a sandwich on the Monday & Tuesday nothing else was offered.
In my opinion these poorly people are being treated like criminals in a prison with no rights & no one to stick up for them. It felt barbaric and very cruel and something has got to be done about it.
