After calling A+E I was told to go there in the hope of pain relief due to kidney stones. After being taken through by the triage nurse I was placed in a room for bloods to be taken and a canula fitted for the meds. It seemed odd in that case to try to put a long needle into the crook of my arm, as I thought it would go either in the back of the hand as usual or possibly up from the bottom of the wrist. I can only guess that after realising what they had done the nurse removed the half in needle and said they were going to ask someone else to do it as they couldn't. So after waiting fr over 5 minutes with the blood where they had left it, with no cotton wall or plaster I walked out and went and asked admin. if this was the norm. Please don't waste your time if they ask you to explain what the problem is, as one of them said to me to my face.'they will always back their staff. A total farce As for leaving information about cleaning our hands , you might want to clean blood off of your patients first. To cap it off I get a phone message asking if I would refer friends to the hospital...jokers
