"Some of the nurses were nice."

About: Southend Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Some of the nurses were nice.

What could be improved

The hospital is a shambles. It is dirty, out of date and falling apart in places. There is no follow-up of care. Any communication about appointments is unorganised. The doctor who treated me did not give me the proper tests I needed: endoscopy and h. pylori test. When I went on holiday and had an emergency, the doctors were shocked I had not received proper treatment.

Anything else?

I entered the hospital in May with a gastric ulcer. I was told when I left I would receive an appointment for an endoscopy. It is now mid-Aug and I have heard nothing. They gave me inadequate care, and did not test me for an H. Pylori bacteria. After having an emergency on holiday, I found out this simple test would have saved months of pain, as I tested positive for H. Pylori.
