The sussex eye hospital and the dedicated staff can only be described as outstanding. The staff are kind compassionate and understanding, the eye hospital is a flagship for our NHS/staff. I attended the emergency walk in clinic with diminishing eyesight/loss of vision, I was seen within one hour and diagnosed with a detached retina in the right eye, it had been detached for some weeks without many symptoms. I required emergency surgery and within half an hour of diagnosis i was seen by a retinal specialist, who was compassionate and understanding, took time to explain the surgery and to answer my questions. From diagnosis to emergency surgery was 24 hours, the nurses, anaesthetist and theatre staff were excellent, helping me through a very difficult and anxious time. I am so thankful to our superb NHS for saving my sight
