"A & E then ward A10"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I arrived in A&E via ambulance, after a severe fall in a shop. The staff were ok, until the ambulance crew left, I waited over 6 hours with little or no information as to how long I was to wait. I finally was seen, the only room available was the plastering room. I was examined and left for a short time, to be brought codine that the staff were aware that I couldn't take, I asked what they were giving me, the Dr replied codine, I explained that I couldn't take it but was told to just take it, even after explaining the symptoms that happened when taking it. I was left alone in the room for around 15 minutes, I had to shout to get attention as I was vomiting and had chest pain, (just 2 of the symptoms that I'd explained to the Dr) It was dismissed by the person who came to help me. Also during the time in there I was interrupted 5 times by other Drs needing a room for a patient, but they didn't knock just barged in! Then barged out! I went for X ray and the time I was there I lost the room allocated to me, was asked to wait back in the waiting room. I was told that I was being admitted to a ward, any time soon but wasn't sure why? No one seemed to be able to tell me either. I arrived on A10 and felt like I was in a geriatric ward the staff were great, they got me something to eat as I had not eaten all day, I cannot fault the staff but the on call Dr was a waste of time as they didn't prescribe all of my meds so my fibromyalgia suffered and I didn't get any pain relief at all, I was glad to be going home, no one knew what was going on with my care the next day. I had an o/p appt which I went to, whilst there the decision to discharge me was discussed and the patient next to me told me with great delight that I was moving to another ward, but infact I was being discharged, the staff had packed my things up, whilst I was not there, and then failed to tell me what was going on when I came back, I had to chase up the information. I was discharged but I wasn't accompanied to the discharge lounge, the nurse in charge just said I could go there myself, despite not being able to walk too far, I was met by the discharge team with shock. I was glad to see my friend who picked me up from the discharge lounge.
