"Misdiagnosed. Given laxatives for endometriosis."

I had an acute pain in my lower abdomen 2 months ago. It was so intense that I needed to call an ambulance. I was sent to A&E at RVI. All A&E staff were very helpful and I was happy with what I had been given ( lots of painkillers!) despite the fact I ended up spending 7 hours there. I had a CT scan there and they didn't find any significant problems at that time, except one of the doctors found a slight abnormality with one of my ovaries. Then I was told that if the pain continued and I wanted further examination, ultrasound scan, I need to come back next day. So I went back to A&E next day with the pain and after an hour wait I was finally sent to gynaecology department, where I was hoping to get ultrasound scan done. I met two doctors there. The first doctor sounded caring but they said they could only give me more painkillers. There was no other solution.. I wasn't happy with this. So I asked them to send someone else to talk to. Then, came the second doctor who sounded a little bit arrogant, started to explain to me about 'common causes of tummy pain' as if I'm six year old girl. The diagnosis I was given was constipation. They totally refused to give me an ultrasound scan. So I came home with some painkillers and laxatives.. 4 weeks later, I had the same acute pain again. This time I was lucky to see a specialist at a private hospital where I was finally diagnosed 'endometriosis of the ovaries'. The size of the cysts were 4cm & 8cm which definitely needed to be treated. I was then given the right treatment at QE in Gateshead where my consultant is working. Over all, I feel very disappointed with my experience at the gynaecology department at RVI.
