"Lack of information for heart attack patient and carer - Doncaster Royal"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Cardiology

(as the patient),

As a visitor to ward 24 where my mother was being treated for a heart attack I felt very uncomfortable and made to feel I should not be asking questions on behalf of my mother. More time is needed to find out if the patient understands what is happening and there needs to be more staff. I was sent home with medication and had no idea what it was for and had to ask a nurse friend. It was a spray for under the tongue.

Visiting times were restricted to late afternoon and evening and I work afternoons until 10pm. I asked a member of staff if it was O.K to visit in the morning as I work afternoons and was told no as they are busy with doctors rounds. For an old lady this is bad as she got very depressed.

I would like to thank Michelle Barrett, she gave us more information than any of the doctors or staff.
