"Long wait for appointment"

I received a letter in January saying I was on the waiting list for Ortotic services. I phoned to inquire how long I would have to wait and was told I could expect an appt by the end of June 2015. I phoned recently and was told that there is a long backlog. People who had had their letters in Sept 2014 have still not been seen! So there is little hope of my being seen for a long time yet. I think this I utterly disgraceful.

Some people, it seems are going to be given podiatry appts to help clear the backlog.

Not a satisfactory solution if it is really a full orthotic asessment which is required. Further, from my own experience podiatry orthotics do not last long. A wedge which was added to ones I got from podiatry very quickly wore down and became ineffective.

I have no wish to jump a queue. All of us who've been referred for orthotics have been so because we need that service.

Is there any hope of improvement in the availability of this service?
