"A&E Care"

I recently found myself in a situation of excruciating chest pain whilst working in London. Coming from Sheffield the thought of having to attend an inner London hospital A&E department filled me with cold dread. I expected it to be scruffy, ridiculously busy, under staffed and therefore expected the care to be half hearted and 'conveyor belt' dismissive. Had I had a choice I would have waited and attended NHS services in Sheffield. The experience I did receive has restored my faith in the NHS. The hospital itself is brand new and immaculate and the A&E staff all fantastic and very thorough. Of course there is always a certain amount of waiting involved but with chest pain I was assessed immediately and within about 10 15 minutes an ECG was carried out, followed by xray and blood tests etc. The waiting only took place once they had established I wasn't at immediate risk. I was treated by 2 doctors, a nurse and various radiologists etc throughout an afternoon and think I was treated efficiently but with care, thought and understanding with a friendly manner. Everything was explained to me in detail and I was asked repeatedly if I had further questions regarding my condition. Unfortunately I didn't make a note of any names but the staff are a credit to their department and profession. I don't ever write on line reviews... this is the first time I have ever felt strongly enough to make the effort. I hope no one has to find themselves in the same situation that I did, but if you do, you can have confidence you will receive the care you need and deserve.
