"Terrible Attitude"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

Being a patient in ward 6 was the equivalent of being in a prison.

The attitude of the nurses I came into contact with was terrible. If you asked for anything you got rolling of eyes and huffing and puffing. The nurses I met in ward 6 made me feel intimidated by their poor attitudes. Then you hear them speaking that no wonder one of them was leaving. I can't blame them. This lacks care, compassion and leadership

Dear goodcare,

Both I and the ward 6 staff are deeply saddened by your poor experience in the ward and are sorry for any upset this has caused.

At NHS Lanarkshire we promote a person centred, caring and compassionate service which you have clearly not been shown.

I’d like the opportunity to address your concerns and would ask if you could contact me directly on 0135558 4664 to discuss these matters at more length.

Kind regards

Gwen

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: Care Experience in Ward 6, Hairmyres

I am extremely disappointed to read about your experience relating staff attitude and behaviour in Ward 6. This is not standard of care and professionalism any of us would expect during a care experience in any environment and as such I have asked the Chief Nurse for the site to meet with the staff and discuss the issues you have raised. Should you feel able I would appreciate if you could speak with the Senior Nurse Gwen MacIntrye, as in doing so we would be better able to address this and any other issues relating to your care experience.
