My daughter who is Downs has a nice flat provided by North Ayrshire Council, but unfortunately the cold water stop valve for the house was situated in an impossible position to access, being in a corner behind her washing machine. After a couple of incidents which required access to same, I contacted the Occupational Therapy Dept and a nice lady arranged for the Council to install a 'sure stop' switch within the kitchen, which in effect enables the cold water supply to be turned off from an easily accessible location. This was an excellent response and outcome from all concerned.
