We wanted to say a huge thank you to all staff involved in Archie's care, surgery and recovery on Sat - especially the nurse on Oatwood Ward. An serious injury to your child is a traumatic experience for all parents but it is compounded by the fact that he has autism. We felt reassured and supported throughout the whole process and it was very helpful to have one nurse assigned to Archie the whole day. The nurse immediately understood his needs- and ours too and explaining every step and answering our numerous questions. The operating theatre staff were also very supportive and there was a definite ambiance of a calm reassurance. As we watched Archie being wheeled into his operation I felt very confident he was in the best possible hands. We are extremely grateful that his terrible injury was dealt with so smoothly and effectively. He is now at home very happy and we are having terrible difficulty keeping him off the trampoline. Please pass our comments and thanks to all involved on Saturday.
