I was referred to the Lister Oral Surgery unit by my dentist for a checkup after a nasty dental infection. I was a bit anxious, and to be honest, didn't have high expectations of the experience (and the regular NHS-bashing in the media doesn't help either) I needn't have worried. Despite the hospital being busier & bustlier than a motorway services, every member of staff I met was cheerful & professional. And yes, that means you helpful car park attendant, and you too smiling main receptionist - I appreciated your courtesy & patience: you both brought efficient order to potential chaos. (However a note to drivers - I would allow 15 mins or so to park, in addition to your journey time, and use the map on the hospital website to find your way) I'd brought a book in anticipation of a wait, but didn't get a chance to read, as I was called in right on schedule. As I'd expected, the doctor & nurse were professional & thorough - what I didn't expect was how kind they were: I felt like I was being cared for, as opposed to just being examined & treated. Media generalisations about NHS morale aside, my main impression of this hospital was how happy its staff seem in their work, and how engaged, energetic & switched-on they all are. And I don't mean the practised, artificial manners of call centres - these folks all seem proud of the job they're doing, and rightfully so. Well done team, keep up the good work, and thank you.
"Impressed by the hospital & the staff"
