"Utterly Disgusted"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I am utterly disgusted by the service my boyfriend has received the past two days. After arriving at A&E on Wednesday, being x-rayed and informed he had a broken ankle which needed to be plastered, I was shocked to find out this procedure could not be done as there were no crutches! So he was sent home and told we would receive a call from the fracture clinic. It is now Friday, no call so I have taken it upon myself to ring the clinic – no appointment has been made and I was told we would receive a call Monday/Tuesday next week with an appointment date! I find this utterly appalling how you can inform someone they have a broken ankle, make them wait over a week for an appointment date (which we still haven’t received) and give them no equipment to aid their walking in the interim.

Dear Anonymous

I am so sorry to learn of the problems you and your boyfriend have encountered, both with our emergency department and the fracture clinic. I have passed on your comments to the senior managers in both areas and, if you are willing to contact our PALS office with more details on 020 8401 3210 or at pals@croydonhealth.nhs.uk, we can make sure that your boyfriend's experience is fully investigated.
