About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

I visited A&E on the 2nd July 2015, as I was advised to come in via this avenue, to be assessed by gynaecology unit. I was in awful pain, after two failed operations, and was desperate for some help with my pain. The doctor in A&E, tried for one hour to get someone down from gynaecology to assess me. They refused to come down. Eventually the doctor managed to get a surgical registrar to come down. They did introduce themself, and had a very bad and uncaring attitude, they wanted to carry out an intimate examination without closing the privacy blind on the door or providing a blanket or equivalent that is put over a lady during intimate examinations. I had to ask for both things to be done. Their attitude was so bad, that I actually asked them if they had a problem seeing me. They replied that they were busy, and was sick and tired of seeing gynae patients. They said that I needed to be seen by gynaecology, and made the appropriate phone calls. Eventually, I was sent up to the emergency gynaecology unit! The doctor and nurse were wonderful. It went down hill from there, when after being examined and advice from a colleague was sought. The consultant told me that there is nothing they can do for me, as there is only one consultant in the trust that can do the operation that I require, and they can't do it for a third time. I would have to "just live with the pain, and discomfort until I am seen in two months time, at a different trust. No compassion or sympathy was shown for the pain and discomfort I was in. A truly heartbreaking experience that left me in tears. We left the hospital at 6pm, with heavy hearts at how people like this are in the 'caring profession.
