"Children's A&E"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Disappointed with disorganised staff+extremely long waiting times when there where no other waiting patients. When arrived at children's A&E was told my child was the first person in that morning (7.30am) taking straight to triage with nurse, told will be seen straight away by doctor as knowone else in! 2 hours later.. No staff ever manning reception.. Was told doctor shift change over was at 9am, will be seen soon. My child was eventually seen at 9.45. Have always received excellent service at North Tyneside General A&E shame it closed to be replaced by this.

Dear Sarah, Firstly apologies for not coming back to you sooner. The link to the new hospital and notification process through NHS Choices had not been established with the Trust, so I wasn't being made aware of the new posts coming in. I understand this is all rectified now. I am also really sorry that the new hospital didn't provide you with the care you were after when you visited with your child. It's really disappointing to read your review and to hear how long you had to wait when you were expecting to be seen straight away. We do naturally share all posts with our teams - all feedback helps us get better. It is very important that we quickly understand anything that is not working as it should in these early days after opening so that we can rectify immediately. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to do this, Best wishes, Annie
