What I liked

Since moving to Suffolk in 2005, my concerns re having to change Hospitals for my ongoing care was quickly removed after a number of visits to the James Paget Hospital, I have to attend a number of clinics but principally under the Pain Unit headed by Dr. Notcutt. The Hospital is clean and welcoming, the staff as a whole are respectful and caring, as in all walks of life it is impossible to interact with everyone we meet but such makes life what it is. My appointments are observed without excessive delays, clinic waiting areas are comfortable with excellent facilities to purchase snacks and drinks from various sources. The Hospital continues to expand and improve almost daily with many new additions to its range of services making it less likely to have to travel to Norwich for services at the bigger NHS Hospital. As with all HNS units the scrutiny of cleanliness and infection control makes the cleaning of the hospital a priority and this is witnessed no more so than when an in patient, although watching cleaners working at 6am is not a normal desire, it is clear the cleaning has returned to a priority rather than a necessity or function. Having been in over 9 different hospitals since 1994 due to a severe spinal injury, the people of Norfolk and North Suffolk have a lot to be greatful for with any visit to the James Paget in Gorleston on Sea, as do the many visitors who come and through misfortune visit the very efficient Accident and Emergency Depts.

What could be improved

Patient Food Choices and Ranges especially for diabetics, special diets etc, we dont all like fruit three times a day.

Parking Charges do Mount up when having to visit the hospital for numerous outpatient appoinments.

Anything else?

This may sound petty, but when the toilets are being cleaned as per Rota between the lower shop area and entrance to the XRay dept, and main corridors, it may take up to 20 mins to have the cleaners re-open the toilets, during the day could it not be sorted thant either alternatives be made available or more simply the mens toilets clean by men and womens similar making it not so necessary to close the toilets for such a prolonged period, this always happens around visiting time or lunchtime it must be so easy to ensure gender cleaning.
