Overall I was very happy with the service I received during my stay in both medical short stay and laurel 2 wards. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the doctors explained everything to my satisfaction. My only criticism would be with A&E where I had to wait in the draughty waiting area at midnight before I could be moved to pre admissions. Given that I was suffering from pneumonia I began to shiver badly and did not feel well. I found the meals to be satisfactory given the quantities that had to be produced even though they did not come up to the standard of my wife's home cooking. The choice of sandwich at evening meal time could be more varied. My condition was such that I had to be transferred to Birmingham Heartlands for a possible operation. Luckily I did not have to have this and returned home shortly afterwards. Of the two hospitals I preferred Worcester for its facilities re personnel hygiene, medical and nursing staff were excellent in both. Can I also say that having dialled 999, the ambulance was outside my house before I had finished talking to the operator.
