Having been summoned to Kidderminster Hospital urgently late evening Thursday 26th March. Blood test results I gave earlier in the day had given serious cause for concern by the doctor. The on duty GP gave me an examination, and ordered for me to attend Worcester Royal Hospital for immediate treatment. The GP had fast tracked all information ahead, and had a slot arranged for me as soon as I arrived at Worcester. Deep disappointment to discover there was a chronic backlog in A & E upon my arrival on 00.30 Friday morning. Having waited approx 6 hours I was given a bed and moved into a corridor for at least an hour. When I was finally examined by the Doctor, things started to move quickly. I was admitted to ICU for immediate renal treatment. In this time my condition had deteriorated rapidly. I had to have an NG tube inserted and anti sickness drugs administered. It was discovered that my kidneys were not functioning properly, and dialysis and drugs were needed to address this issue. During my stay in hospital for 7 days after the initial admission, I can only say a big thank you for the level of care that I received from all members of staff. My only hope now, is that you can address the serious issue of being seen quickly on arrival before anything more serious might occur to some unfortunate patient who attends your hospital.
