"Maternity services"

About: New Cross Hospital

I have spent time in different maternity departments due to few complications. There are some lovely staff offering help, support and advice in the maternity ward. Really happy with them. The care was also good, but some staff should watch their attitude and approach towards a patient. They should also believe patients instead of ignoring their issues and investigate those issues before making assumptions and ignoring the help and causing delay and pain to patients. Different staff give you different information that was confusing. Many staff do not fulfil their promises, especially when changing the shift. Better shift handover needed. What I was disgusted with was that my newborn had a tongue tie and there is only one person qualified to cut it and they were off, therefore nobody could have done it. That meant I had to book with another hospital and wait for almost two weeks to get it done causing me stress over loss of breast milk and my son to struggle with feeding! I could not breastfeed and now I find it difficult to switch him from a bottle to the breast. The hospital should realise that people go off sick or on annual leave, therefore there must be another person covering this important position Then, I was very satisfied with MLU services. Very kind, approachable staff, always happy to help and comfort. I would go back anytime. The quality of rooms and services was amazing. I have nothing negative to add and want to say thank you. Finally, I was also impressed by the help and support in Delivery Suite. I would like to thank all midwifes, students and other staff for making my time as comfortable as possible. Good work guys. Your help was really appreciated. Overall, it was a fairly positive experience, but few aspects need improvement, especially the tongue tie work coverage.
