We had our second baby boy at RUH on 8/6/15, we had our first baby boy at Southmead by emergency c-section 2 years ago and have since moved to the east side of Bristol so wanted to go to RUH as it was easier to access. With a lot of support from a wonderful midwife we had the VBAC birth that we wanted and throughout our stay (evening of 7/6/15 to afternoon of 9/6/15) the care we received was excellent both on the delivery suite and maternity ward, I'm afraid I didn't make a note of the names of any of the other staff so I can't thank them individually. All the staff were helpful, supportive, friendly and responsive to our needs throughout our stay. The only tiny niggles I would mention was that the bathroom of the delivery room we were in had a small patch of somebody else's blood on the wall which was a bit icky, but having not given birth vaginally before, I didn't appreciate the volume of bodily fluid involved (!) Also that the food on the maternity ward wasn't that great - classic 'hospital food'. Having said both of those things, the care we received was excellent which was the most important thing and I haven't hesitated to recommend RUH maternity services to my close friend who is pregnant and has also moved to this side of Bristol. Please thank the midwife for their care and support throughout my labour, we were fortunate to have them for their whole shift and I am so grateful for their support and encouragement when things were not progressing and we thought we were headed for another emergency c-section which we desperately didn't want. Baby A is now thriving (having put on 1lb in his first two weeks!), Toddler B is generally being a lovely big brother and we are all adjusting to now being a family of four - so our thanks to all the staff for getting us to this point.
"Thank you - maternity care"
