"Worst Hospital I've ever experienced"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

I have had the misforutne to attend several clinics on mulitple occasions here due to having an auto immune condition. Each experience has been awful. Car parking is non existent and as clinics are regulalry over 2 hours late you get clamped for overstaying as you are still in 1 of the many intermediary waiting rooms! Opthalmology are a joke 2-4 hour waits after appointment time and the consults are clueless. I have had appointment cancelled and not rearranged as advised by letter and had to phone up myself to chase. I have had letters from GP and other staff to consults in the hospital get lost along with my notes! They are short of AI specialists and lack basic knowledge The whole patient experience from the soul less tv screen book in which breaches privacy legislation as you details are visible to any one standing 20 feet away to the ticket to the trek 1/2 mile to the department to the sub wait room with rude nurses who just weigh you and send you to another sub wait area until seeing a doctor is degrading and second rate. Contrast this with the excellent Leek hospital ! this unit is too big badly managed with staf who are not clinicians even medical secretaries but an ineffectual "appointments team" I had to put don't know about which dept, below as it doesn't give the option to say all 6 only 1 I even travel to Birmingham hospital to avoid going here as the treatment and skills are higher in my problem areas. I am qualified in medical science and a post grad and I struggle and am fed up with having to fight to get anywhere so for some one without these experiences and background it would be impossible. Worst thing I ever did was move into the Stoke area.
