"ward 39/40"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

My partner spent a week between the two wards. Staff are excellent and very caring to patients needs. Only one gripe and that is, why does it take so long for meds to arrive from the pharmacy? My partner was told at 9am that she would be going home, was told just had to wait for meds. Finally left at 7.40pm! No explanation given as to why it took so long.

Dear Martin C, Thank you for sharing details about your partner's experience on ward 39 and 40. We have passed your kind words onto the team, a compliment is always well-received! We would like to apologise for the wait for your medication. The Pharmacy team receive 1,000s of requests for take home medications each day and there can be some delays in getting these to the wards for patients. We have initiatives in place across the Trust to improve this, such as 7 day and evening working to avoid backlogs. We are sorry that this held up your partner's discharge on this occasion, and we have fed this back to the managers so they are aware of the issues. Kind regards Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
