"sugery cancelled after third time."

About: Dorset County Hospital

i have had my operation now cancelled three times,as you can imagine,I find this totally a rubbish service and very frustrating as I have to each time, book time off work and book time off for recovery,I'm, sure my boss thinks I,m mucking him around, but thanks DCH,you did once again yesterday the 22nd of June,I also have to get someone to drive me the hospital, which from my home is a 60 mile round trip, are you going to pay for my fuel expenses, probably not,now I understand as I have sleep apnoea that my procedure,is not quite as simple as others,(a simple tonsil and adenoid operation)that I therefore have to have a bed in HDU (high dependency unit)so they can observe me,in case of complications, now it's this,as each time I attend, I sit there, the first time all day(nil by mouth)only to be told there are no beds,a complete and utter waste of mine and the carers time,to be told again yesterday,"I'm afraid the beds been taken",the staff also ask me if I brought in my sleep apnoea machine, the answer is no,I haven't,as I need the operation in order to function and use it to its full affect, now I will be ringing day surgery admissions again today,23rd of June,to discuss a forth and hopefully final appointment,c,mon DCH,sort your selfs out,and they say NHS is getting better Pah! Don,t think so!

I am so sorry to hear your surgery has been cancelled for the third time, this is not the service I would want for any of our patients. I have asked our Divisional Manager for Surgery to personally find out why this has happened to you. I have also asked him to contact you to let you know what plans we will put in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again. In the meantime if you would like to speak to one of the Patient Experience Team I would be grateful if you could call our PALS service on 0800 7838058 or pals@dchft.nhs.uk. Once again, I sincerely apologise for the poor service you have received. Kind regards, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital
