"My entry into care was probably unusual"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS) The Princess Royal Hospital / Audiology

(as the patient),

My entry into care was probably unusual. I thought my tinnitus would be subject to audiology PRH. Email reply told me I needed GP referral.

GP was treating me for hypertension: he continued to increase dosage (this did work over 3 months). When I told him of e-mail, he sent a referral to PRH (so no question of choice of hospital). TRAQs responded quickly with acknowledgment but not a date.

Whilst waiting for a date, I went to audiology PRH and had 3 year recalibration of hearing aids. This was very effecting as I can now hear TV/radio “normally”.

After 6 weeks waiting, we phoned TRAQS: still in queue: no indication of how long this queue was (Can this be improved? ). I asked GP to upgrade “standard referral” as I am very worried by the strong pulsing in my head.

1 week later, special extra Saturday consultant was advised, advice quite thorough, mainly reassurance, even if no cure.
