I called 111 in May when feeling very unwell. The operator went through a list of questions and suspected a heart attack and immediately sent an ambulance round. The crew did not waste any time and took me to St George’s hospital arriving there in 13 minutes (the return home journey a week late took 45 minutes! ). At St George’s hospital there was team already waiting for me, I was taken into theatre immediately and had a stent put in.
I was in hospital for 5 days. Whilst the bed was uncomfortable (I’d go through the whole night awake) and the food diabolical the care given and the nursing staff were brilliant.
Unfortunately a week after being back at home I suffered another heart attack – this time I called 999 straight away as this is what I had been advised to do. Again, the ambulance crew were very quick in getting me to the hospital where I spent another 5 days following another stent operation.
