My mother was admitted to A and E and it was quickly established that she was very unwell. the news was broken to us sensitively but also frankly so we could allow time for family to travel. Despite a very uncertain prognosis the team is resus worked tirelessly to establish the facts and to ensure my mother was pain free. The specialist nurse was outstanding in both their skills and compassion. When it became clear that my mother would not recover the staff made sure we had a side room in a ward so that we could be with her and have some private time. I am usually the first to criticise but the care given was exemplary in every respect. Not only was care offered to my mother, that as extended to the whole family as well. Nothing was too much trouble and our thanks extend to the wider team, endless cups of teas when you have not slept for days and genuine kindness may not cost a lot but the mean the world. With so much negative publicity about care of the elderly, may I reassure anyone who is dreading their last days in hospital, I only hope you too have such a positive experience at such at a truly difficult time. So to every doctor, nurse, health care assistant, catering assistant, staff in the restaurant, car parking attendant, a huge thank you from our family.
"Excellent care"
